Hello fellow enthusiasts,

Hope someone can help. I have hs 4 on my 998 and was having trouble weakening the mixture off. Consequently, I have found the waxstat jet to be bent.I am I right in assuming that I'm better off ditching the waxstat, for a fixed type jet? If so, is it a simple enough job?

Thanks in advance, steve

As well as the jet you need a small linkage conversion, BFS701SUL. Other than that its straight forward

Is your engine steady in good order?? This maybe the cause of your bent jet.

Just been getting a spares list together and was hoping someone with abit more carb knowledge could help.
To replace the bent waxstat and needle, im assuming I need:

AUD9451A jet
BFS 701SUL linkage conversion
AUD 1034 needle

Think that's all I need

Thanks again in advance

Cheers there Simon,

It's an 78 998, but the carb was given to me separately. No tag on the top either.thought that was the standard needle. It came with a k+n filter, and I've fitted an lcb, single 1.625 system, ported head.just need to get it running somewhere near until I get it to the rollers

Your advice is greatly received, steve

The old cheapskates way of ditching the waxstat used to be removing it and replacing it with a few pennies.

I notice that the needle you recommend is 'swinging' type, as where the one I have is the fixed type. So, before I order, which one do I require?

Many thanks, steve
