Hey all.

Many years ago we bought a GRP bootlid. We don't remember where from but we do remember that it was cheap.

A poor fit was expected but this is something else. Before it gets snapped in a fit of rage and slung in the bin I'd appreciate your input....

So we have the two types of seal. I tried the seal-on-body type (early) and it didn't work well so I bought and fitted the seal-on-panel type (later). Both failed to solve the problem, even without a seal it seems the radius of the curve on the panel is way off....

Seal on car:

(you can see the clips for the other type of seal here)

Seal on panel;

(I can fit my fingers through the gap)

And finally with no seal at all:

(top and bottom corners are acceptable but you can still see the clips for the seal).

It's been on and off a few times and no matter what adjustment is made, the gaps/alignment is so far off I'd have to nail the damn thing shut to get it even vaguely water tight.

Problem solved - go to Somerfords and ask if they have a black bootlid, which they did!

GRP boot lid put up for sale, we'd rather see someone make use of it than bin it. Link
