Fuel Gauge Woes

Does your fuel gauge work? Take the lead off the fuel tank and earth it. If the gauge goes to the top then I suspect a sender unit issue.

As Badboy said, the quick test is to earth the sending unit wire.
Turn the ignition switch to the run position. Disconnect the green/black wire from the sending unit and hold it to earth (hold it to either a bare metal spot or to the sending unit terminal with the black wire). With the green/black wire earthed and the ignition on the gauge should go to full. The gauge going to full with the green/black wire earthed suggests a problem with the sending unit.
Sending unit replair is by replacement.

Personally id just replace the unit, you can repair this unit to do you in the short term
