Fitted new ball joints, built up dry and it appears they will need about 2mm of spacers. This seems an awful lot? They are genuine items from mini-spares being built onto new uprights also from minispares. I've not lapped them I'm yet but surely I'll not use that much material up?

Any thoughts?

Lap them in and see what happens, it will close up a bit and you might find you have to use a fair amount of shims, thats what their there for

Lock tabs fitted, I'll lap in tommorow and see if it makes up much difference.

Haven't done any for a long time and didn't remember having to have this many shims fitted :-)

Apparently new ones, especially non-genuine, need a lot of shims. Mine did.
