Hi

I don't think anyone's asked on here about this, but do correct me if I'm wrong.

At some point I'm going to need to rebuild the front end of my Clubman, and I'll probably need complete new inner wings.  But I've seen advertised a complete inner wing assembly (part numbers CZH410 and CZH567), including (I think) gusset, A panel and pillar stiffener.  This would save me a lot of time compared to replacing all these separately, and it's probably more cost effective.

But how would you line up the doors?  While replacing this assembly you'd have nothing to bolt the door hinges to.  Could you tie the door in place somehow and then fit the assembly around that?

Has anyone fitted one of these?

Also, does anyone actually keep them in stock or do you need to ask to have one made?

Thanks

Mikey

Hi there, I have fitted these, I made a visit to Somerford mini to get advice on fitting I was advised to use the door bolt holes for alignment and the front suspension top mount bolt holes I then built up my front end using self tapping screws to make sure everything worked together ok plus obviously fitting the bonnet,I then spot welded everything together. As far as my doors I re-skinned both my doors and everything still worked ok when it came to putting it all back together.

You could bolt the door on once the complete inner wing assembly has been clamped in place just to check the shut line against the a-panel

Hi, thanks for the reply.

How can you use the door bolt holes for alignment, if you can't bolt the door on until the assembly is in place?  Unless, like you suggest, you just clamp it in place and then trial fit the doors, and then tweak if necessary?

The area around the door hinge holes is made up of two panels, so even with the inner wings removed the holes for door hinges will still be present

I see...  I thought those panels came as part of the inner wing assembly, so there would be no holes until you fitted it.  On the Somerford website it says "An inner wing complete assembly includes inner wing, A panel, gusset and front pillar stiffener", and the "front pillar stiffener" is definitely that panel with the hinge holes!

Thanks for your help.

Also, that front end looks fantastic.  It also looks like it's had a few other new panels!
