Comma Classic has a spec of SE CC.  Motorway does not actually list a spec. :shades:

From what I've heard, Comma Motorway is a terrible oil as the only standard it has to be up to is the viscosity.

Not a drop of it is going near any of my engines, that's for sure.

For a Mini you need a 20w50 oil with a high ZDDP content. Oils with high ZDDP include Valvoline VR1, Millers 20w50, Penrite 20w50 and, if you can find it, Kendall 20w50.

The motorway is awful Bob. The classic isn't great either - loses pressure very quickly. Save it for topping up your dash pot.

The comma sonic is a different kettle of fish though. Brilliant oil. Loads of zddp. Morris golden film is great. Buy it in box's of 8 x 5 litres and it's available for £14 a bottle.

Only thing I use Motorway for is protecting iron/steel parts that are going to be stored away for a long time - Valvoline VR1 is the best, and also one of the cheapest!

I too use Valvoline VR1. However, the very best oil I've ever used in a Mini was the hard-to-find & very expensive Kendall 20w50 Mineral. I don't think it's available in the UK now, although I would love to be proved wrong. It was mega-expensive. There is a rumour that the BMC Competitions Dep't, who used to be contracted to use Castrol, would before every event fill loads of Castrol cans with Kendall 20w50 to put in the rally cars during the event. That could be an urban myth, but it could well be true.

I use 15/50 from morris lubricants. Thinner on start up but still has a good viscosity at higher temps.
