Just wanted folks opinions on whether to use gasket sealant (waterpump/thermostat)?? Some Mini Specialist's say yup, others say nope!

i used gasket sealer on my water pump a few months ago because i managed to damage the gasket and had no alternative. Its done 500 miles maybe more and not a drop has leaked. Personally im not sure of the best way and i previously have always used proper gaskets. But after this success i may not bother in future!

I never used any when I done my water pump few thousand miles back and been spot on, if I was to do it again though then I would add some just for extra peace of mind like.

Edit: what would be the best sealant? Hylomar is supposed to be good

Cheers chaps, Megamini would you put sealant on both sides of the gasket or just the engine side?
