As above, how easy is it? I've been given another mini shell and it's in excellent condition but it's got a sunroof with vinyl covered roof and it's bubbling underneath. Other than that it's excellent and I'm thinking of stripping it and using it to reshell my car.

You can't change the complete roof panel using the same method the factory used, if thats what your asking. Apparently they have some special rolling spot welder thing that did it all. You can try leaving an inch lip to weld a new panel to, or get a composite roof?

Ah right, sounds nasty.

How do you fix a composite roof and what effect does this have on the rigidity of the car?

It is recommended to get a full cage with a composite roof. You usually leave a few inch lip and bond/rivet the roof to this.

Umm, £200 for a fibreglass roof and £400 for a carbon fibre one! Not exactly cheap.

Nope, and I certainly wouldn't get a fibreglass roof panel, best either getting a kevlar or CF for strength.

Depends whether it's a strong GRP one, or a weak CF/Kevlar one. GRP aint always weaker than CF
