I'm having a sprite of 1992 with engine number 12A2BG04 with an electronic ignition (Lucas 65DM4 electronic with 9EM module).

So yours is of a later date (1993), for shure it has no points.

The car is 21 years old and is new to you.  There is always the chance that it no longer has original parts... including the engine and/or distributor.  There is no substitute for visually confirming what is on the car.  Follow the spark plug wires back to the distributor.  The distributor cap will be either clipped or screwed to the distributor housing.  Release the clips or loosen the screws so you can remove the cap and look inside.  If inside the distributor you see a component similar in shape to what is shown below, your distributor uses points.  If you don't see something like it... the ignition is electronic.

Thanks just checked, no point just cap and rota arm! Blank plate underneath!

Thx!

Is there a way to tell if it have a hif38 carb still in it like the original (I here lots of people change them to the hif44?)

Thx again!
