Anyone got even a rough idea of the cost of transporting a car from Livingston near Edinburgh to Tamworth west mids? Looking at a potential project on eBay but need an idea of transport costs.

http://www.shiply.co...hicle-delivery/

Heard of this being used before a few years ago, It's pretty much a reverse auction people bid lower to get your business.

I'd budget for £1 per mile.

If you go on Shiply bear in mind that cheapest will not mean best.

I used a website called anyvan to get my mini and my dad's focus swapped around between my gran's and our garage.

Total round trip was about 34 miles and I got charged £56 for it. It probably took just as long to load and unload the vehicles than it actually did to transport them.

Or you could hire a trailer? There is one local to me that cost £40 per day.

haven't got a tow bar anymore sadly, the ad has been pulled now anyway so I think he has sold it off the auction, wouldn't harm to send a quick message just saying its sold though.

When you work out what your time is worth, the cost of fuel, and the trailer hire it can sometimes work out cheaper to get someone else to ship the vehicle. It did for me.

You also get the added benefit of that the people transporting your vehicle are insured so if anything happens to it then they will cover the cost. They are also legal to transport a vehicle were as some people are limited to how much they can tow.
