Both, use small bulldog clips ( lots of them )  to position it and then impact adhesive to permanently fix.

Double sided tape is easier.

I've done mine with evo stick (don't get the solvent free it's terrible ) once you get started with it it's brilliant and really does stick well I've heard of double sided tape but I'm not convinced it'll hold as I really had to pull mine about to get it tought and crinkle free,my advice would be to take you're time and don't rush it walk away if you need to and I'm sure you will need to ha ha!!!

The factory used tape from the mid '90s on and it's been fine on my car since I fitted it 14 years ago too. The glass seals hold the headliner, whatever you stick it with only needs to hold it while you align everything and get the seals in. You use the bulldog clips while tensioning it and the wrinkles shrink out with heating.

The small trim clips you linked above are for holding various boards and panels. I don't remember there being any around the actual headliner but they do hold the C pillar panels, lower dash rail trim and so on.

The only stuff I've used barely holds a piece of paper up. I've heard 3M make some really heavy duty stuff though.

I used mamouth double sided tape by everbuild to stick my door cards together which is good also the double sided for carpet and flooring is very strong.

I have used it many times to stick mini head cloth in place, it, as Dan said used by rover in the 90s.

Exactly, just some double sided from B&Q or somewhere. As I said, if the lining is fitted right the tape isn't doing much at all. Carpet tape or similar would be way over the top and too wide. If you use something really strong it will pull the paint off as you make adjustments.
