As per title really, will changing from metro vented discs to non-vented reduce the track?

I am trying to reduce the width as my 13" 7J superlites not only stick out past the replica sportspack arches but also the tyres catch the arches with very little lock applied.

It's the flange that dictates the offset, I believe the metro flanges are 3/8" wider than the Mini ones.

I can't remember if it's as simple as a straight swap, I'm unsure if this will make the disc out of line with the calliper.

I have Metro hubs, 1.5 neg degree bottom arms, vented discs, metro flanges with mini steering arms. my problem is that my 13" 7J rims not only stick out to far they catch the replica sportspack arches with very little steering.

What else can I do to reduce the  track width.

Change the flanges from metro to mini ?
Change the front rims to 6J's?
Is there anything else i can do?

Have you fitted the arches correctly? When fitting 13 inch wheels you need to cut the wings

Yes ! I did exactly this for the same reason as you want to. Kept to 4 piston calipers but changed back to solid discs (Metro ones) Before doing it I compared the Metro flanges (which suit the non-vented set up) to Mini flanges, measuring from the rear of the flange to where the wheel sits and they are identical

Sorry it must be the time of night I'm a bit confused !

Did this solve the problem?

Did you use a 6J rim

Which rims are you using, with which off set?

Hi. This all refers to fitting 4 piston calipers. Wheels are only 5" x 12" Minilite lookalikes made by CT, am unaware of offset but I think they're all pretty basic between manufacturers on such a small increase in width.  Sorry to say I don't do wide wheels, spacers, big arches etc I was purely wanting to fit better brakes so I went for the vented Metro set up. Annoyingly this resulted in mud being flung along the side of the car. So I obtained new solid Metro discs, found Metro solid disc drive flanges to suit and re-did the whole thing. This brought the wheels in 8 -10mm each side. You need to keep your wits about you and check everything, I seem to recall the need to slightly space the calipers to ensure the discs were nicely centred in the gap but this may vary between vehicles. Hope this helps. To end, I'd say it's a pointless exercise anyway because there's nothing wrong with the standard 8.4 single piston set up for normal / enthusiastic road use !! :shy:
