no matter what photo or what format i change my photo into it is too big to use as a profile picture on here. any help? thanks a lot.

Google JPEG resizer and you will a load of online pic resizer websites that will do it free for you.

I found if I used a Photobucket IMG link, no resizing was necessary. It put it straight in.
