Hi all,
Just a quickie before I get anymore involved with stripping stuff out and testing.....
Basically I got into 'Chop' the other day to go for a spin.
Turned the key, all lights came on, starter operated as normal. I normally pump the accelerator a couple of times (no choke) and he'll either start straight away or I turn off and try again....
Turned off (for a split second) and tried again.... NO IGNITION LIGHT, NO STARTER, ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS DEAD.
I'm running a piggyback solenoid and standard alternator.
Checked the main leads (earth and live) all OK. Fuses good. 12.44 volts at battery and solenoid main terminal.. BUT, when I turn the ignition key to position 2 the voltage drops to nil (position 1 is fine)
Rocked the car in gear to make sure the starter motor wasn't jammed (although of course that would not effect the electrics)
What do you reckon? Shorting out solenoid? Problem with starter shorting? Ignition switch or wiring?
Just thought I'd run it by you all, as I've got a few things that I need to do today other than mini stuff, so don't want to waste too much time swapping out bits on my day off.
