On my 1979 RHD Mini, the switch has stopped working correctly. When I click to high beams, it doesn't stay in that position, but goes back to low beams. I have to hold the stalk toward or away from me to keep the high beams on. Is the switch repairable, or must I buy another (3rd in seven years) stalk?

Question 2: The high indicator bulb has burned out. Can I replace it without removing the carby?

Thanks,

Joe

There is a little plastic clip in the full beam stalk that clips it to hold it on full beam, when this bit breaks I don't think there is much option but to replace the whole stalk.
Another option would be to make up a replacement clip and use that, although nowhere actually sells these as far as I know.

Also you say the high indicator bulb, which one is that? And why would you need to remove the carb to get to it?

Thanks, Jake.

I mean the blue bulb that is illuminated on the dash when the high beams are on. I see no way to access the bulbs other than from the rear.

Oh I see, to get to the back of the gauges you will have to take the dash off (if fitted) and remove the gauge cluster, shouldn't need to remove the carb for that.
