As most mini owners will agree, trying to add additional circuits to the already highly strung wiring on a mini can be daunting - and we have all seen some dangerous attempts inherited by new owners.

Recently I've been asked how best to do this, and as a development of the stand alone stereo harness we now offer a stand alone fuse box option. The option is available in 4, 6 or 8 fuse box options, and combinations of the three depending on needs.

No additional stress is placed on the factory loom, power is taken directly from the starter and using appropriate amperage cabling. Permanent live and ignition live split is made to customer spec - the ignition circuits are controlled by a relay, taking a switch feed from the original loom as a trigger - not a power source.

All connections are crimped, soldered and sleeved for safety and durability

4, 6 or 8 way fuse box - £45 plus post. (Additional fuse boxes can be included to increase the number of circuits - please add £10 to cover cost of fuse box and terminals)

I have the standard 4 fuse OEM box, but wish to add an alarm, a modest amplifier (30 A) , a cigar/ USB charger and the cd/ radio, presumably I could use your unit to swap in for the original ( as it looks good too) and just use the original inputs and outputs from the old wiring circuit at points where additional new wiring was not required? As there are 4 existing connections and I'm proposing 4 new then an 8 fuse box would seem reasonable. Am I too far off with my way of thinking here? Will the brown wire to the alternator from the starter be wise to be beefed up too?

Do you do full wiring harnesses, e.g: full on replacement loom with additional circuits added? What kind of cost would we be looking at as well?

Hi Lucas,

I assume you are talking a front to rear loom for lighting, charging etc?

It's not something we usually do as off the shelf new looms are difficult to beat price wise. We focus more on independent upgrades as a well maintained original loom is perfectly capable.

But please feel free to contact us directly on here with your ideas.

How much for an alternator to starter motor wiring.
Would like it with the over braid and heat shrink on the terminals.
The alternator is an A127 type to a pre engaged starter?
Also where to get the spring clip that holds the connector to the alternator?

Little bump for new interest - we will be at minis on the rec with demo looms. We may even have one or two with us at L2B to show you all what we do.
