Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 1982 HLE, it's totally standard with 36k original miles. For the last 12 months it's been in a garage only having a run to the garage to get an MOT, the car starts very well, usual bit of choke depending on time since last start etc. the issue I have and it's not a big one is that when accelerating it stutters a lot before it settles,it does this through all gears, it seems that's it's more to do with power delivery is there a standard set of things I should check tick off?
The battery is in good working order
Carb dash pot is also nicely topped up
I was thinking of the following:
New fusebox
Any other cables\connections involved in the power delivery? I read somewhere that there are some behind the dashboard?
Clean all connections into fusebox
New coil?
New alternator or clean existing? I assume it must be working as battery gets charged
New rotor arm?
Clean spark plugs?
Regards all....

Could be a variety of things, normally simple. Could be timing, mixture, fuel feed, plug/points gap.
Mine was doing a similar thing. Fine on choke (richer mixture) but hesitated once warmed up. Was running just a bit too lean, so I colourtuned the engine, and its just about spot on now
