Firstly, with the TPS, is it just a case of unscrewing and screwing a new one on, or does it need to be done or calibrated in a special way?

With the lambda sensor, can it be done without taking the inlet manifold off etc?

Cheers

TPS is just a swap!
Lambda can be done in situ but its much easier to take off the manifolds!

I can recommend a crows foot socket to make your life easier!

The TPS most likely will need setting.

There is a lot of people saying you can donut yourself via the throttle pedal, but this never worked for me. Mine (and the IACV) was set up by a local MG place with a rover T4 diag system.

TPS has no setting. You are confusing the throttle cable and stop adjustment which needs to be done using diagnostic gear.
Just replace it.
Lambda sensor is tight for space I tried the special socket but ended up cutting off the cable at the crimped section and using a normal socket and a big bar.

I agree on the straight change for the TPS - it's just a variable resistor so tolerances will be the same as before.

If you're sure the lambda sensor's gone, do like FlyingScot says. I've got the special socket but it's no good for a sensor that's been in place a while.

I generally chisel the back of the old sensor off (cold chisel and big whack) then a normal socket easily fits.

If you're a bit squeamish, then a ring spanner can be used - look at the plug on the sensor, there's a piece of plastic that stops the spanner fitting over but it actually isn't used on the mini's wiring connector, so can be cut off with a sharp blade & sensor can be re-used if not broken. Not as easy to apply force, but manageable with a bit of leverage.

No calibration needed for lambda sensor.

Good luck!

OK, had a look at this.

I have a Draper 22mm crows foot socket and a long bar.

I can't see for the life of me how people have managed to get the Lambda sensor off an MPI without taking the inlet manifold off. Not alot of room to slot on the crows foot and I'm buggered if I can work out enough room to turn the bar.

Anyone done it on an MPI (NOT an SPI) without taking the inlet mani off?

Still can't see how I'm gonna do it, even if I cut the old one off I probably wont be able to tighten the new one in enough, theres bugger all room!

I know this is and old post

but did you get it done

if so how

'because I got the same problem and me too for love or for money don't see how

you get that little blighter out of there - the temp sensor was a breeze compared to the lambda
