Fuse 2's Left terminal has the feed from the solenoid and then out to the switch

But it DOES go via the fusebox

Picture of the FUSEBOX where the cable DOES go....fuse two left as ive said countless times now

The lights are not fused on his age Mini, let alone by the fusebox, yes there is a brown wire going to the fusebox, but there are lots of brown wires

Are you serious! I give up, you clearly have no idea how the system works yet you are giving me grief.

THE TWO BROWN WIRES ON THE SECOND FROM TOP LEFT TERMINAL ARE;
A-THE FEED IN FROM THE BATTERY VIA THE COMMON POINT OF THE STARTER.
B-THE FEED TO THE LIGHT SWITCH.

Loads of brown wires, what you on about! Lol

Thanks for the replies guys. I replaced the connectors across the fuse box and the lights seem to be working well now, voltage is good and seem brighter than ever :) which is good as they never really seem to have been the brightest !
Thanks for the help guys !

Does it have two brown wires where I said and just like the one in the picture? Did you find any rotten ones, even that blackening will cause issues.

What do you want them to tell me? Enlighten me? Im 100%certain you dont know how the fusebox works, I can tell you where everyone of the brown wires goes and why, there is not lots of brown wires at the fusebox for a start, even if there was I have repeatedly told the op which two to check!!!

The circuit for the light circuit starts at the + in connection of the starter solenoid, there are the 2 thick browns from the alternator on the same connection, a brown wire comes off this point and goes through the loom up to the fuse box on fuse 2 (marked on the wiring diagram as fuse point 3) this is the input to fuse 2 and a brown wire is taken off from this point onwards to the headlight switch. Because the feed is taken off the input of fuse 2 then no circuit is through the fuse, so the headlights are not fused. see diagrams below.

I did the full circuit here in the FAQs http://www.theminifo...-blade-fusebox/

Exactly as I have said ten times, I even went out in the rain to photograph the connections, and gave the haynes page and part numbers!

I was going to say I wasted my time but as the op has replaced the spades and fixed it then it was still worth it.

Happy yet Gremlin? I doubt it.

I think the confusion has crept in by the main headlight switch being fed 12v from the fusebox input on fuse 2 and Gremlim pointed out the headlights are not fused which again is correct as he stated in post 16. You'd be surprised how any times I've seen this and its common on BL Cars

I cant have been any clearer about it, if he does not understand that the left side is the unfused feed in and out thats fine but I dont need educating as he suggested, my posts are as you have shown correct in every way, I have not suggested they are fused at any point and for one last time have correctly pointed out that the two thick brown wires on the second from top left fuse's terminal are the in and out using the terminal as a jointing point as shown in the photo, and as shown on the haynes page given. Lol

Since the connection on the starter solenoid is pretty reliable, the next point is on the switch,

Just for the very very last time then, no it isnt, its joined at terminal 3 on the fusebox, second fuse down left hand side :-)

Fair enough, I was wrong, but I'm not completely insane as my fully original loom (89) went straight to the switch, I can see that on others it went via a fusebox connection.

@Gremlin yes mate correct the feed from 1988- came off the starter to a multi distribution point and split to feed fused and onward to the headlight switch.
