The crank shaft sensor actually reads off the flywheel and is located down by the starter motor. The cam sensor is at the back of the engine on the passenger side were the mechanical fuel pump would be on an earlier Mini.

Can be done, but there's not a lot of room round the back to get to the cam sensor.

Is it able to be reached from above and reaching round rather than having to have car on ramps?

Is it grill off for crank sensor?

Crank sensor can be done without removing the grill, and cam sensor can be done from above, its just a hassle because there is really not much room to access the sensors as Guessworks said above.  ;D

Only had a quick look earlier as it was raining but crank sensor plug looked buried against grill by starter, if im looking at the correct thing. didnt look like any room, was hoping to avoid taking grill off as its riveted on :s

Its a pain (like almost every thing in the Mini engine bay) but can be done.

Crank sensor looks do-able.

Can't see how to do the camshaft sensor from above though!
