Hi Folks,

I've been around Minis right from the start, but someone here in Orkney has just contacted me (we are setting up an Orkney Mini Club) and has a South African Mini 1275E - a model I had not heard of.

He brought round the front subframe today and it was built in 84 but has the two bolt towers and drum brakes (2LS)  Also I have never seen extra tie bar mounts just under where the rack would sit - properly done and look like factory jobs.  The wheels are standard 3 1/2 J x10  The drive shafts are still attached and pot joint type.  All seems to point to an original car and quite rot free - and it was a real bargain!Clubman shape with single 1 1/2 SU and dual circuit brakes.

Does anyone know the full spec of these cars built under licence in S/A?

Ian

Here's a basic overview of the car :

Put up some pictures of what you have.  =]  I'd be interested to see. Also, all SA cars kept the twin tower bolts and didn't change over to the single ones. They were a real mix of eras in terms of the Mini.
