Hi all :)

 

I have osme questions regarding my 'new' ( aka second hand) smiths center speedo :

First of all : what bulb do I need for the ignition warning light? Can I just use a standard bulb?

 

Second : Is it possible to 'reset' the speedo? its at 11000 KM atm, but I need to get it up to 58K or 0, but doign that mile per mile isn't going to work out ( would need roughly 11 hours of spinning it constantly).

 

Can I use bulbs from my 2 clock setup? Or are those a whole different type? 

I think that's about it..

Different bulbs. I believe you can take the speedo apart and alter the mileage

It is apart now, but it seems like all th enumbers are stuck, so you have to turn

Google for the 27 page PDF document by Anthony Rhodes, "Repairing Jaeger and Smiths Speedometers".  Print out a copy, read it several times, then open your speedometer and work on its odometer.

I recently reset the millage on a speedo I was going to fit to my Pick-Up. It is possible to ease the number reals over to the left and moved them on. It’s not quite as easy as that and I managed to break a couple in the process (or they were probably old and ceased to start off with). The end result was that I now have a speedo with the exact millage of my car BUT I can remember the TPM (Turns per Mile) of the speedo I used. In fact I don’t think any of the speeds I had in my spares match what I need so it all pretty much ended up as a pointless exercise really
