Hello
I have a Mini Mayfair 1275 cc Automatic. The other day I had the engine overheating sitting on traffic. Later on I opened the radiator cap and the water had a rusty and muddy look.
Has anybody else seen such a problem? What is it that I should do??

Not unusual for cooling water to be that colour, when was it last changed?

Might be worth draining and refilling with fresh water-antifreeze mix. If you do would recommend using the traditional 'glycol' antifreeze.

Decalcination tabs for coffee machines 5-10 in the cooling system. Drive the water warm/Hot and let the tabs in over night. Next day flushing and refilling with 50:50 Glysantin or so.

Don`t forget to open the heating system.

Use pour in a bottle of CLR (calcium lime rust) and then top up with water. Leave it few hours then flush. If can't get that you can buy big 2 liter bottles of cheap white vinager. With vinegar you know when you have flushed it out - just keep sniffing ;)

I like the idea of using either the coffee machine tabs or the vinegar as they both are used for cleaning. I think I will try the coffee machine tabs first. I hope that will work first time.
