Heres the situation.

Currently have a 998 with an inertia starter and a non-electric dizzy in my mini now. This week I will be installing a 1275 pre-engaged starter and an electronic dizzy. Having trouble finding what/how I need to rewire things, plus wiring is my achillies heal!

Anyone have a diagram(even a crude one would be awesome!) or anything that could help?

Thanks fellow mini lovers  :proud:

Is the electronic distributor like this type below picture 1 is so look at picture 2 shows the module to coil connections and the coil needs a 12v feed to the + terminal, the coil to use if you have the distributor below with the module is a CGL 143

Starter conversion was cover here last couple of weeks have a look using the search, to save recovering ground

Thanks for the info, I look up the starter conversion thread!

As far as the distributor, I feel a bit like an idiot! I just got it out of the box to compare with the pics...... turns out its a ducillier points style.  >_< all this time I was thinking I had an electronic one lol

now I have another question: Which dizzy do I need for a standard 1275 with an HIF44?? There seems to be a ton of choices. Is this the right one?http://www.minispare...|Back to search ??

Is your engine a standard 1275 from a Cooper that year ? if so yes and use the correct coil CGL 143, this was the year 90-93 Rover fitted the 1275 in the mini, if yours is from a non rover say out of a metro then you can use a distributor from that application, or if you intend to tune it then a Aldon Yellow.

First off, I really appreciate your help!

The 1275 is out of a metro, would the dizzy I linked work or is there a better one for this application?

The A+ engines cam in in 1984 and the distributor mounting was changed so if your engine is a A+ with the fork and single 1/2 locking nut it will accept the 65D4M in your link, maybe someone here has one we have a few breakers here who may have a chep one you could try.
