Hello,

I am looking at renewing the coil on a 1996 SPI cooper. Non-modified 1275 engine.

The original coil is very rusty and I am not able to read/find the part number.

Minispares advised to use part number GCL143 however I am totally confused if I am to have a ballast coil or not.

Can somebody please advise what is the correct coil to use and what the ballast is used for and do I need one?

Many thanks

Hi what Minispares has told you is correct the 91-96 SPI cars also used the CGL 143 coil the same as the ballasted ignition cars with O.E Electronic Ignition
