My car is making a knocking noise from the back and I can't seem to put my finger on where from?

I'm gonna try and change the knuckle joints and see if that fixes it.

Do I need a cone compressor for changing the rears?

Nope.

Simply undo the shock absorbers from the top inside the boot. This will allow the radius arm to drop lower and take the pressure off the cone/trumpet allowing removal.

plastic cup usually ends up stuck in the arm and can take some removing.

Like wise, the knuckle can end up stuck in the end of the trumpet.

Yeah the plastic cup can get stuck in the arm, mine have on the front and rear.

Spray some penetrating fluid in the gap, this usually helps.

I destroyed both my rear ones when trying to replace them. Ended up with a screwdriver hammered into them and picked them out in bits!

Easiest way to get the cups out is using a pair of needle nose pliers. Stick one half down the outside and then just keep twisting. It will wind the cup in and you can then put it out. It may split but just keep at it and it will come out.
