My engine mounts are completely buggered and in dire need of replacement so I was just wondering how big of a job it was?
Also, I was hoping to drive 600 miles, round trip, tomorrow - will it be safe to drive until I can get it sorted next week?

+1. And never fit the ones with the treaded inserts pre-fitted!
Just use original quality mounts as supplied by Mini Spares. Grease the face which goes onto the sub-frame before lowering the engine, one end at a time, to make it easier for the mounts and holes to line up.
It really is not that difficult.

Ah, the guy who's replacing it said he would use the more modern ones. Why do you say genuine rubber?

Because these chaps know better...

Because the genuine ones were designed for the job...
For someone who has removed and fitted his fair share of engines, you want to see the trouble I've had with some 'quickfit' replacement mounts, cross threaded captive nuts, captive nuts which are no longer captive, poly mounts which literally fall apart when removed and don't get me started on quick release mounts..
