Hello all

Just fotted a mg metro engine to my mini. Not heard it run but appears to be good health

All wired up and attempted to run. Actually got leads 2 and 3 round the wrong way amd it started albeit rough

Swapped over but now wont run at or fire at all. Spark plugs 2 and 3 appear to be firing but 1 and 4 are completely clean (4 new plugs)

Engine has accuspark fitted which i think i have wired correctly. Rotor appears to be pointing at 1 oclock at top dead centre

Fuel is getting through

Bit puzzled really

I did think about whipping put old ppints distributur from my 998 and trying that?

Any reason why plugs 1 and 4 would appear not to be firing?

Thanks

Are 1+4 wet? You say they look clean but I don't know what you mean by this

Havent checked gaps - will do this

I have a feeling plugs 1 and 4 are not firing at all

Plugs are new but distributor is unknown
LOokS brand new and has accuspark in it. I have non ballast ignition in the mini so i simply wired to the coil. Coil has 3ohms across it and 12 volts.

Timing - at top.dead centre on piston 1, valves are closed on cylinder 1 and valves rocking on cylinder 4. Rotor points to lead 1

Could it be dizzy is out by 180 degrees? How is that diagnosed?

Could i bolt in my 998 dizzy (i know this works) with points just to get engine running?

Cheers

If the plugs are not firing then they should be wet and stink of fuel.......

Are ALL of the leads on the right way round?
