Hey guys,

Having a problem with the way my mini is driving and am after some help.  When I put the power down my car pulls me all over the road, sometimes left sometimes right, depends on what the road is like.  It almost feels like I have an LSD the way its snatching and pulling me over the road.  Has anyone else got a quaif diff that does this?

What Quaiffe diff is it? I have used an ATB with no problems in the past (and have a new one sat on the shelf as we speak).

No LSD should drag the car all over the road.  Get your alignment done and check for play in wheel bearings and ball joints.

its a quaif ATB.  Are you all using them with pretty standard engines? as mine is quite highly tuned so would that be causing me the issues? or should the quaif deal with the higher output?

I have a quaiffe atb taking reasonable power and when I first put it in it pulled all over the place going from on and off power. Turned out the tie rod pushes had worn badly replace them and was back to being unnoticeable which was why I went for the atb over a plate or cam LSD as i do a lot of road miles with it. And that's with 13 x7s which exasivate and suspension play.

ok cheers mate,  I rebuilt the car from scratch, so all the components are brand new, the only thing I have done differently is put coilover suspension on, but that should make a difference, i'll go all around the car again and give it a good old tighten and see if that helps

Just out of interest does the atb reduce torque steer?

LSD's will highlight any suspension problems,

if you've got anything thats  got play in it, or mal adjusted it will likely cause issues.

corner weights are another good one, as the rear of the car squats, if one side softer and it squats lopsided then it will loose traction on on front wheel sooner, and pull one way.

also big offset wheels are bad for this as they give the steering less leverage.
