Hi. I've been given a good clean HS6 carb (from a friends TR4).

I'm considering trying it out in place of my existing HS4.

I have the 1.75" manifold spacer and gaskets, fitted additional studs, but am missing the throttle connector.

It is obviously different to the HS4 piece, but cannot find anyting about what a single HS6 throttle looks like.

Does anyone know what one looks like, and where I might get one...either that or I make one myself

(plenty of twin HS6 kits, but cannot find a single HS6 setup)

Also it doesnt have the crankshaft breather connection, that the HS4 does...what do I do with the breather hose????

Any general comments on HS6 v HS4 would be appreciated too

thanks

Jonny

I don't think you'll find any gains by fitting the HS6 with your spec. The HS4 is a well sized carb for a 998 engine and is easily capable of fueling for your engine. Just out of interest why are you trying to fit a HS6?

just thought I would try it out...see if it made any difference!

Going to refurbish the HS4, and refit it if there is no difference

That's a fair enough reason!

You're looking for a HS6 Abutment Plate (there are a few examples if you google it) to mount the throttle cable. The breather could be incorporated into the air filter or inlet manifold, or taken to a 'Catch Can'.

You may have trouble finding a needle to run lean enough for the 998, but then I don't know what sort of needles the HS6 uses. They can all be ordered from the Burlen website.

I've only worked on twin set ups so is the throttle bit the same as a twin set up where the spring attaches ? If so I may have a spare lurking about

Cheers j

Ah i see what you mean now..... i was thinking you meant part of the linkage.. cant see why it wouldnt work with a hole for the spring

cheers james

Car might not run too well with a HS6 due to the size on a 998. I tried a HIF44 on mine, very similar size (the Hs6 is just under 0.5mm larger) and it ran awful, felt like it only ran on 2 cylinders under 3k rpm.

Although the 12g206 head is a little larger than other 998 ones, (larger inlet valves and cc) i don't think it would be an ideal set-up.
