thought I would try the Valvoline 20 50 racing oil

been using Castrol 20 50

well the Valvoline seems to keep slightly better oil pressure

and not using as much oil, done 500 miles and only

used a little oil in comparison

I used it this weekend for a track day ! awesome stuff !! VR1 for the win !! and for the price it is cheaper than the bog standard millers 20w50 for minis and the Valvoline seems to hold better pressure and oil temp without getting too hot.

I race on Valvoline 20/50 VR1. Another +1 from me, fantastic oil.

My mate uses this in his 1/4 mile oval race car(1.4 vauxhall engine) after 10 laps, half of which is flat out,  the pressure drops to 20psi at idle, he changes it every 5 meetings(15 races)

I have always changed my Castrol every 2000 miles

to keep a tip top engine

I believe with the Valvoline you have to change it more frequent

than ordinary oil something to do with cleaning additives

I have a case or more of VR1 in the garage for use in my British cars.  It is good oil.  I cannot comment on change intervals.  I change my cars' oil every 3000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.  Your practice may be quite different.

Cal844, any oil is going to deliver lower oil pressure when hot and 10 laps in a race car would certainly qualify.  The 20 PSI drop is not necessarily unexpected nor would it necessarily indicate a problem with the oil.  The lower pressure may indicate larger bearing clearances, a worn pump, and lower idle speed.

It is about the best oil that is readily available for a Mini engine really. I have certainly not come across anything better.

Have had it recommended to me and seems good on pressure compared to cheaper options.

I like it, or rather my car seems to like it, keeps good oil pressure.  I get mine off eBay for £26

Or get yourself sponsored by Opie Oils and get it really cheap....  ;D

Seriously though, its good stuff, been using it for a while in various tuned engines.
