I have taken my mpi for an mot and has failed it on lambda readings and CO being too high. The reading for the CO on the fast idle test came out as 1.76% (should be 30% vol). The lambda reading was 1.187 (should be 0.950-1.090).

I have got the following checked and still the readings are showing high. The emission levels are fluctuating.

MAP sensor checked.
Lambda sensor checked.
Replaced CAT with an after market.
Replaced coolant temp sensor.

Can someone advice what else I can do?

Thank you.

looks like its running rich and has to much oxygen coming out the tale pipe

my guess would be an air leak, assuming they are both related

how's the service condition of the car?

how were the sensors checked?

It went through a full service in June with wood & Pickett. Oil looks good.

Have been checked for air leaks and none detected. The service condition is good.

I will try to post it onto the injection forum too.

Any more ideas?

Sensors were all checked by mini speed and they all confirmed good.

Is the car standard? Any mods made? Were tappets done at the service?

Its a cooper 1.3 mpi and in 2013 i had the manifold and air filter upgrade done which increased my bhp. Since then nothing changed. This work was done in May 2013 and the Sept MOT passed without any issues. No tappets changed at the service.

sound like it should have been hot enough, and you would hope at 77k cam wear would not be a problem.

I'd get it on a proper T4 Diag see what it shows up.

Yes I was educated many years ago by Adrain about building an engine up, not down when he built an engine for my wife's car. 1275, smooth cam, 91bhp and no high lift rockers to be seen...
