Anyone tried these - http://www.vintagety...-tyre--road--tl  tyres?

Any comments, definite no no's? or excellent?

Looking for general good quality road tyres, and was looking for something different from A539's

Thanks for any replies

Never used them on a 12" but often on 10s as they were the best of the cheap tyres.

Actually for a time they were the only 10s you could get for 6" wide rimes as Goodyears disappeared. And the Yoko A008 had not arrived.

Then there was the A008 or the Camac that was it.

Essentially a poor copy of the Dunlop SP tread using a cheaper compound and cheap manufacture. Commonly refered to as Camac Ditch Finders. I've never used them myself, but anecdotally a lot more people hate them than love them.

i have had the mispleasure of driving on "cam-craps" on both metros with 13" alloys and minis with 10" rims, and just found them to be terrible in the wet and little better in the dry.

i would say they would last a while as the compund seemed really hard and almost plastic like, hence their poor performance in the wet

I had a pair of Camac 10" tyres and they really weren't that great. I remember them being shockingly poor in the wet. They seemed to last forever though. I think I sold the wheels with them on before I could wear them out. Sure I did several thousand on them and they didn't look much different!!

a relative of mine had Camacs on his Nova-I think they were mainly PTFE/nylon composition. very had wearing but absolutely zero grip especially in the wet

I had camac death tyres once, the only time my car ever left the road!

Surprisingly enough they were amazing in the snow but that was probably due to the never decreasing tread lol.

I've never heard of anyone wearing out a set of Camacs... maybe because they're hard wearing... maybe because the car usually expires before they have a chance.

I wonder if they changed the compound. As I don't remember them being that bad.

I know my first Mini had 10" Camacs on and they were awful. That would have been 1994ish. Horrid tyres!
