One Carb Or Two?

Hi all,
In the process of onveritng my J plate Neon to run 10" wheels with an S disc setup that I got cheap
I have put the 12" wheels back on for now and they seem to sit further in on the S discs than they did on the 8.4"
Is it just my imagination? Is there a difference in the overall width btween 7.5 and 8.4 discs? Anyone know/ever measured it?
(Fitting vented discs increases track by 1.5 inches I read, so may be there is a difference between 7.5/8.4)
