Hi guys,

In the line to buy one of these engines, spec below;

1380

7 port head,

new Pistons,

1.5 roller rockers,

twin 40 webers,

kent 286 cam,

stg 3 maniflow exhaust system,

swiftune electronic distributor,

l & b crank and flywheel,

uprated clutch and water pump,

MED SCCR gearbox and MED SC drop gears,

Any idea what i would expect to pay for this setup? Neither myself or the seller has any idea!

Cheers

That is one of those, if you have to ask then you can't afford type situations...

Bearing in mind the head is somewhere between £1.4k to £2k off the shelf, gearbox about 1k, engine probably another 1k-2k, webers 300 each need I go on...

If you were looking at this kind of spec engine off the shelf I suspect 5k would be a good finger in the air start at a budget... but that may slip by 1 or 2k.

So, anything upto 3k and I suspect it could be considered a bargain...

Cheers GuessWorks.

I was thinking around that price, but i've never purchased a complete - second hand engine before and i was about to call MED for a price on an engine anyway.

Thanks

got to say its only worth what you can get someone to pay for it... Its expense to build but you never get your money back, most people seem to get more money by splitting the engine up and selling it all separately. Finding someone with 3K for a used engine will be difficult I think as you don't know how worn it is. These things are built from a passion IMO.

Yeah, for a second hand engine that's too much... You may pay a little more for an off the shelf engine, but at least you would have a warranty...

With a 5k budget I'd be getting quotes from engine builders to see what sort of spec could be achieved, and I believe it would not involve a 7 port head, but a 16v
