is there anyway of finding out for sure ? i looked on the logbook and there is no mention of co2 immissions?

Your car is too old to be charged tax under an emissions band. That system only started in 2001 so when your car was made it was never classified with an emissions band, tax is charged on engine size. All cars from before 2001 up to 1.55l are £145.00 / year. This is all on the DVLA website, funnily enough.

Pretty sure it will be £145, but go to DVLA vehicle enquiry website and put in the registration and make and it will tell you

Go to total car check website.
For free, it'll tell you when MOT is due, when tax is due and how much it is to renew it.

Yep. It does change, as does the price of a lot of things, it keeps getting dearer.
