I know I've posted this topic before asking for information regarding the chemical make up of the catalyst heat shields, and my concerns for the inclusion of Asbestos.
I recently bit the bullet and sent off a sample of the heat shield for analysis by a local environmental agency. For the princely sum of £24 I was rewarded with a certificate stating that NO Asbestos material was found.
So, for everybody that has an Spi or Mpi mini with heat shields fitted, they contain NO Asbestos, especially if they are battered up a bit or freying round the edges.

Yeah, me too.
I had a bee in my bonnet about it if I'm honest, mainly due to the face that I have come across it many times during my career as an aircraft engineer. Never disturbed it or anything like that, but it was always found around heat shields and gaskets.
And to be honest, I didn't need to post this either, I did it purely for information purposes..
