I am on my third battery (one died of its age and the next one practically exploded) and now im on my third. It holds its charge while not connected to the car however ive had to bump start it a couple of times in the past few days. I recon my alternator is on its way out (ive not tested this yet that will be soon) however can someone recommend either what else could be wrong or what alternator i need to run 2 spots (soon to be 4) as well as a radio and other little bits. (needs to be relatively cheap)

Check all earth points are clean. Make sure there is no damage to the battery cable that runs under the car.

Make sure the battery is secure in its box and that the strap isn't shorting the battery out.

Is anything draining the battery?

The cloth staps are only to hold the battery cover on, not the battery down. what strap have you got at the minute? it should have a right angle metal one that fits on the edge of the battery.

Do the Alternator tests in the FAQs electrical section that will show if you have alternator trouble.

Done but none the wiser! Batter is completely flat and even after pushing it to start wont do anything so alternator must be dead all wires are fine.

If you have done the tests and are none the wiser? just compare the readings in the post to yours if you dont get the reading I have listed the alternator is not charging.
