Hi there,

My name is Rob and i am new to this forum.

I own a 1275GT which has a race tuned Oselli engine in it.

Today after changing the oil i realised that i may have a problem with my carb.

When i start the car, and whilst the car is running there is fuel pumping out of a small pipe and is going into the engine bay of the car.

The pipe is pictured below:

I am just wondering if there should be a pipe connected to this?

I have never noticed the escape of fuel coming out before.

Hope that someone can help me please.

Thanks

Rob,

Sounds like fuel coming out of the float chamber vent, may some dirt stopping the float needle from shutting off properly.

Do you have an in-line petrol filter fitted just before the carb?

Hi, Yes, this is the breather line for the float chamber, so if petrol is coming out, it shouldn,t.

The needle valve normally has a small filter inside to stop muck getting in to the valve, incase people do not have filters!

So the needle valve may be worn and the carb will have to come off to do the job. The replacement parts are normally a 4 part job, new mini filter, needle valve and needle valve housing with new float chamber seal, Part number off the top of my head is WZX1099A and they are about £12.00.
