Hi

My 1996 mini sprite spi is currently off the road for a while so i was going to convert it to a carb and do some engine tuning as well,

Ive removed the spi system and am about to remove the wiring loom. I have a carb mk4 wiring loom out of a 87 city that i am going to tidy up and fit to my sprite.

I also have the tank out of the city to use aswell, I am going to get a fuel pipe made as well to run front to back as well just like the carb models.

I am going to run a hif 44 carb with a water heated manifold and a lcb exhaust. I am also going to swap the spi distributor for a carb one but with electronic ignition.

Am i missing anything??

I am also going to upgrade the engine and gearbox while im doing it. Im looking for this car to be quite powerful but also useable because this will be my daily driver.

Im thinking of buying a carb A+ block so this will pass the mot emissions regulations. I am going to bore this out to 1330 cc because ive been told that this is more useable than a 1380 and with the right mods can still produce enough power. The bottom end I am keeping standard. The cam will be a sw5 cam with a vernier duplex timing chain. But ive been told that roller rockers wear out fast so im going to be sticking with standard rockers.

The head I am currently building will have 35mm inlet and 29mm exhaust valves, also ported and polished with compression ratio of 10:1. With double valve springs.

The gearbox casing is a A+ casing but with helical close ratio gears from a MK3 coopers S. The close ratio 1st motion shaft with a 1040 laygear. It will also have a central oil pickup pipe and a extra magnetic oil trap aswell as the sump plug.

Does this sound like a good spec for a fast and useable daily driver??

Am i missing anything that i need to convert to carb??

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Stephen
