hi all

well i've been on the forum for a while now and haven't got a project thread going. 

I bought a clubman from a member on here last year and spent a months semi restoring it as it was going to be my daily,  i fitted a 6 point safety device cage done the mk1 hinge conversion and etc 

but i'm now starting again as im hoping im going to race it instead of my daily so thought id do a project thread 

its a 1972 leyland had a metal flip front fitted,adjustable arm tie rods and etc  when i bought it 

 

Im using photobucket for the very first time so im not to sure if the images will upload successfully

Well I've sold my 8.4 vented brakes and now have some 7.9 vented 4 pots

my old set up that i sold having second thoughts now

todays job

removed the steel front 

stipped the grill off and etc and storeed away 

 

 

took the carb off,and rear bumper 

thats about it today before it started to rain

removed the front subframe,engine,and etc 

 

got 80 % of everything off and boxed just got doors,eubbishg glass and the rear of the cage left

started to cut some panel off while it was dry 

removed the crossmember in 5 parts 

 

find it the quickest way for me

 

inner sill/ crossmember 

not surprised  but not rot extreme 

 

think i just caught it in time

 

another reason i'm replacing the inner sill is  there a plates which i knew about and was not happy with

just didn't have time to sort it

todays task was i removed the offside wide sill as im going to fit narrow sills 

this is what is was in current state i did weld one plate for the mot then painted underneath yellow hammerite

 

10 mins later 

another 15 mins later job done not to worried about the weld running along the edge of the sill as i will be chopping out with the floor

done a bit more this afternoon cut the rear bins out and seat edge 

roughtly cut the edge off the seat 

ground back so nice even lip

when i removed the bins i though id have a poke around found a lot of sealant on both sides 

 

 

started on the drivers side floor 

 

 

 

left the door step in until i get my parts for my welder  back and put a brace across
