"Dozens of sellers on eBay, the online auction site, have listed their car tax discs for several hundreds of pounds, with some priced as high as £1,500.

The more expensive discs are the ones that have been issued by the DVLA most recently as these are seen to be the most collectable. Emergency-issue unperforated tax discs – those issued between August and when the discs were abolished on October 1 – are likely to fetch the most."

Some guy is selling one on gumtree for £35. The stupid thing though it clearly says "Nill" in the price section of the tax disc. So it cost him sweet FA anyway. Lol

Apparently these are collectible, but much like many of the cars we see advertised on eBay, just because someone is asking a ridiculous amount for them, really doesnt mean that anyone's actually going to pay that much. Also how exactly does a tax disc dated 30/09/2014 make it the last one ever?? I've got one that doesn't expire until 28/02/2015 & had I renewed it for 12 months as opposed to 6, then it would have expired on the 31/08/2015!!

I have a bit of a dilema though, my tax disc is one of the very late & rare non perforated type, that DVLA printed on plain paper. These are tipped to be particularly valuable in the future, especially if they havent been cut out from the original DVLA letter (which mine hasn't.) My mini is currently off the road though, meaning I could SORN it and get a £40 ish refund, but that would involve sending the disc back to DVLA which might be worth more than £40 one day!! :shifty:

I haven't bothered removing mine either.

It is one of the ones printed onto the letter as opposed to the perforated ones. I remember having to cut it down quite a bit so it would fit the holder.

That's bloody daft though, ebaying a useless tax disc with some random car's reg on it, Weird.....

I bet the ad description describes it as a must have item!
