If its a genuine 5 door GTE then I would restore the original shell as they are pretty rare.
If is a genuine 5 door GTE then it will be either a B, C or D reg (1984-86) and will be a 1.8 litre engine.
If its a 20XE or C20XE engine in it then its likely to have been re-shelled or is just an SRI with GTE badges on it.
As for the spare shell. It probably would be worth a bit to someone as you don't see many of them around these days.

Hi I know its def a real GTE its the 1.8 8v I think we have had the car since I was a child some would say I still am one lol the log book and chassis number match for GTE ther was something in the chassis number that points to model my father took it off the road in 1997 as the rear arches needed doing such a shame he did everything then when it came to painting the colour he just never got it fin as soon as my car is done it will be pulled out and sorted he doesn't want to paint it himself he can paint but as its black he wants it done in a oven the hope is the new shell will help to pay for it I'll get some pics up when I dig it out of the gagarage oh I will check the reg to not sure if it will be slightly different with it bn northern Ireland regIf its a genuine 5 door GTE then I would restore the original shell as they are pretty rare.
