Just thinking out loud - no plans to do it - but would it be possible to build and register a new Mini Moke? Reason I ask is there is a cheap Scamp on ebay at the moment and I stumbled across a site that sells all things Moke, including bodyshells. I imagine building it would be quite straightforward with any donor Mini, but what about the legalities: Q reg? IVA?

I think this was discussed a while ago and the conclusion was that it would be possible but very difficult due to the sharp edges on a moke shell.

In any case check with the website. If it's the Chinese sourced parts then they are no longer available.

M-Parts can supply most Moke bits including bodyshells:-

They cannot pass an IVA and still be a Moke really. That's why Mini Sport stopped importing the Chinese ones, it's too hard to get them onto the road.

You can still get Anderson Cub kits which have been put through all the tests apparently. About as close as you can get to a new Moke and probably a bit safer as well. Here is a link http://amcgb.com/

Whats the cheap Scamp you have seen on ebay, there is what I think is a Nomad I spotted earlier?

Must be a quite a few old unofficially scrapped 1960-90's Moke logbooks lying around in drawers awaiting to be resurrected with an M-Parts shell and so avoid IVA?
