They were stunning cars for their time. I remember one painted flat black in Derby in the late 80s that used to drive slowly to bait Capris, escorts and the like to try and overtake it or get it from the lights. As soon as they did he would floor it and disappear.

Ahhhh probably the worlds first and most forgotten hot hatch!

My first car was a Talbot Sunbeam, sadly it was just the standard 1.3 model though, and not the Lotus version. Still a fun car to drive though. Rear wheel drive meant you could slide/drift it round corners, which was handy, because with a complete lack of nose weight thanks to the tiny 1.3 engine under the bonnet, when it came to steering, the steering wheel was little more than a cosmetic accessory.

My mate had one exactly the same.  By the stars it was larey in his hands! We had lots of fun and jolly japes in that car :P
