Hi, I recently bought a new battery for my Imported Civic EK9. I bought a Bosch battery Going by the registration, but when going to fit it today, discovered that the terminal posts on the battery are little skinny things so doesn't clamp whatsoever.

I've found some shims that are made for Jap cars to sort this, but wondered whether anyone here has any thoughts on them?

I don't know whether to get the shims, maybe change the clamps, or just bring the battery back and see what sort will fit.

The shims seems the easiest? But read mixed reviews... Hmm...

Many thanks, Jamie

Jap cars for some reason seam to use the smaller skinny battery clamps, witch kind of limit you to certain batteries witch tend to the then be more expensive. So when I last had to changed the battery on a Suzuki swift witch normally uses a dinky, expensive and crap battery whenever it was slightly cold (if the car was left for more than week during winter the battery would last weeks before being dead/scrap) I Swapped it for a cheaper (half the price) much larger battery. Witch did then mean the original battery terminals then didn't fit. But easily sorted though, by chopping off the original clamps and fitting some new universal larger battery terminals.

Yeah the battery that's just died was a hefty thing, hence why terminals were changed to normal European ones, but only heard good things about the Bosch battery I've bought.

Oh well, ordered some of the Jap lead shims
