I was told years ago buy a guy who restored cars for a living "don't buy expensive grinders as they don't last any longer than the cheaper ones"

That's my local branch too! So glad I don't have to treck all the way to Chorley now ! I agree about the grinder . I bought a 50 quid Bosch one , lasted 3 months replaced it with a 20 b&q cheapie still going strong after 3 years +

Came back from screwfix with a new grinder, did a bit of welding & ran out of gas ! so I spy with my little eye a front subframe a new grinder & a wire brush cup thing, time to attack the front subframe  then this happened

I found 2 small holes in the scuttle & a bit of surface rust underneath, so I've removed the wings, a panels & scuttle

I've sorted out the front cross member, I fabricated the sections with some 1.2mm steel, i'm   happy with the way its turned out i don't think i'm to far out with the shape of the cross member

Looking good. The inner wings look in good nick. Dont look to have any patch repairs which is unusual. Do you think they've been replaced previously ?

Thanks Stu the inner wings both need a small patch, the off side was a new panel years ago after I replaced the bonnet, wing & front panel when I had a low speed crash in 1987 this car has not been on the road since 1991
