Well I decided to change the drop gears back, but managed to do it all whilst engine still in the car. Needed to lock of the the gears, measure up idler and shims, as I knew the idler fitted was a good fit when engine split just a simple case of measuring the one to be fitted and re shim as standard idler little thicker than striaght cut.
Anyway did a little vid of refitting, no sound and speeded up.

I have just purchased this mini. Just having all the interior stripped and refitted OEM. You did a great job @country clubman. Never seen so much Waxoyle on one car! She's a gift for my wife's 40th so will be back in a few weeks. will get some photos up when I have her back. If anyone has any original external trim for the clubman. I'd love to refit. Thanks Matt
