I should know this, if they are convex does this mean you have better view in the blind spot?

I hate convex mirrors. I always do my reversing on my mirrors (years of driving trucks) and convex mirrors really make it more difficult. I've never had any problem with blind spots.

only look weird for a little while, your brain gets used to them pretty quick I've found.

Convex glass is for door mirrors as they are closer to you so you need to see a larger field in the mirror, flat glass is meant for use as a proper wing mirror on the front wing. The majority of cars have convex door mirrors, hence why mirrors in some countries have that stupid warning about objects being closer than they appear..

One of my cars came with normal door mirrors (slightly convex), but with those stick on circular blindspot mirrors. I really like them and they make parallel parking and motorway manoeuvres much easier, I find.
