I've got a 3rd rear brake light in the minis rear window that uses 6 normal 233/T4W 'sidelight' bulbs and was thinking on swapping them (two have failed anyway) for led replacements. But from what I've been looking at, I'd be better off using red over white leds behind the red lens. But witch type of red leds would be the ones to go for? As the options are pretty limited for what are more commonly used as sidelights.

Im currently looking into this myself.
I THINK these will do the trick http://www.ebay.co.u...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
They obviosuly have to be double contact so they get brighter when you apply the brakes.
I'm just putting a shopping list together at the moment. So if anyone else chips in with any nuggets of information that that would be just super!!!

I did by a pair of these about a year ago... 24 led stop and tail light bulbs.
BUT, although the side/tail lights were brighter than a standard bulb, the stop/brake lights were next to non-existent and worse than the standard bulb. And imo fitting then in would have been unsafe compared to standard bulbs.
I'll take some comparison pic to prove it, but hears a YouTube vid that also back s up using led for the combined brake and tail lights at least are unsafe.

Side lights with flash

Without flash

Brakes without flash

Brakes With flash

As you can see there is a clear difference between the two as well as my top level brake light for extra safety
Any questions just send me a message

you could always add a resistor to the side light connection to dim the leds some more to create a bigger difference.

But why would I be wanting to make my side/brake lights even less dim?
I did find some leds that fitted the 3rd brake light, even if they were a pain to fit.
